Frustrated to tears
I have recently gone vegetarian to ease the trouble with my kidneys. And I do feel better, I haven’t had to take a narcotic pain reliever in a month or more. But the scale isnt budging at all. I am doing low calorie…but as I look at my diet…its got more carbs in it than reccomended by low carb dieters (at least for the beginning stages) I literally cried at the doctors yesterday. He said I would be the first person on earth and in the history of the world to defy the laws of physics if I am being honest about my diet being low calorie. Nice guy huh?Though he did say that some of the meds I am on for my bipolar disorder can cause an increase in appetite…not that Ive been listening to my appetite. Im not craving any sweets since going vegetarian.
I wonder if I should go low carb…eat meat again and put up with he kidney issues until the diet allows one to put carbs up to a certain level, then go vegetarian again.
I could really use some input. I’m willing to do what ever it takes, even if it means kidney pain for awhile. My overall health is compromised by being obese…so I have to weigh out the choices.
Girl, dont do that…dont damage your kidneys to lose some pounds…as for that doc…kick!
Meds can play a hugh part in weight gain/loss…my sister in law stopped taking her meds..and lost 15 lbs doing nothing she didnt normally do!! If your bipolar then dont stop taking your meds either…is there something out there that wont interfere with those meds your on that your doctor can give you to help??
I dont know how long you have been doing this…maybe you just need more time for your body to react to a new lifestyle?? I know..thats not something you want to hear.
Good luck girl…there has to be a solution out there for you…even if its just time….god bless….Debbie
Sometimes it just takes time for your body to adjust. Are you eating complex carbs like whole wheat breads and pastas and fresh fruits and veggies? If you are not than that could be part of it. The more processed your foods are the easier they are to digest there for your body stores them as fats easier. If you eat complex carbs your body has to work harder to digest them thus causing your body to use them more for energy. Can you eat any meat? Like fish? If you can than that would be great, fish is very nutritous and low in fat. Dont get discouraged it may just take time to figure out how your body works.
Thanks so much for this input. Youre right, I need to give it time.
Ive been staying away from breads, pastas, potatoes etc.
I will incorporate…maybe eggs, more fish.
Thanks again!
